iTeams - University Challenge Event
An event that brings students and regional businesses together to explore new opportunities. The University of Essex funds this, and The Weave has been delivering this since 2016 in multiple durations and many different ways, including fully online to face-to-face. Students are bought together in teams to explore a real-world issue and work over an extended period to design an innovative solution.
Social Innovation Accelerator 2023
The businesses that emerged from the Hackathon walked into a programme of support. Delivered online this was designed as a series of interactive workshops supported by guest speakers and webinars. The final sprint helped the businesses prepare to stand up in front of a panel of people and pitch for a share of £20,000.
Essex Business Accelerator - Colbea and Essex County Council
It started in 2020 and is still going. This flagship programme has worked with over fifty Essex-based businesses and supported them on their journey. The aim was to offer guidance to those organisations whose business models had become disrupted through the pandemic. It became a unique way to support all entrepreneurs to craft a valuable, new narrative.
Change and Grow - Colbea & The Weave 2021
The Change & Grow programme consists of three elements: a Diagnostic of the current business, Development and identification of new skills, and Delivery of putting your newly acquired skills and learning into practice. It will prepare businesses for the long-term future and the changing world while promoting sustainable growth.
Social Impact Hackathon 2022
Crafting meaningful solutions to complex social issues requires an innovative, entrepreneurial mindset. In November 2022, The Weave bought together 30 social entrepreneurs to address a health and well-being issue relevant to the region. The weekend event started on a Friday night and ran to Sunday afternoon. We used The Weave’s Airmeet platform, created six teams, delivered pertinent information and set loose their imaginations.
Business Summer Skills Workshop 2023
Designed to work with students over two weeks - this was an intense design sprint that focused on growing entrepreneurial skills of problem-solving, team development and leadership to address two socially driven student businesses. The Weave designed and facilitated the event and achieved amazing outcomes for the students and businesses.
